Summary
Kirkhouse was approached to provide consultation services, with a view to supplying modern, flexible banquet furniture, for use in the Social Club's busy main hall.
We fulfilled the order of 180 chairs, 32 tables and 24 table tops only, following consultation & advice over a 4 week period.
The Customer
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Sports & Social Club is a thriving venue which has enjoyed regular, quality maintenance over many decades of use by the local community.
Centre manager Lesley Banner and colleague Tom Norton produced an outline plan as to how the new furniture should function.
Having recently furnished the lounge area with another supplier, Lesley & Tom were alert to certain aesthetic aspects that were less desirable. GSK Sports & Social Club presented deadline at around one month, during the christmas period.
The scale of the project was mid to large, however Lesley & Tom were relatively clear enough about their requirements and were able to achieve a suitable and relatively quick solution.
Our Service
A single site visit was required to appraise storage facilities, layout and aesthetic concerns. Upholstery options were discussed in terms of practicality and samples left on site for consideration.
Following discussions, a single quotation was required as the product itself had essentially been decided upon on site.
Unique Aspects
GSK were replacing high quality, folding venue seating, which would have originally been relatively expensive. Whilst the previous solution had provided many years of good service, it was unsuitable for regular use and as with many folding chairs, would never have completely fulfilled the requirement.
Our replacement Coronet banquet chairs provided a more practical and comfortable solution for a wider range of applications within the hall.
Additional fitted soft-furnishing was to be refurbished by a local upholsterer. The work was to include replacement table tops for a number of substantial pedestal table bases. Whilst we were too late to offer upholstery services for the soft-seating, we were the ideal choice for the supply of replacement table tops.
Outcomes
The venue being well established and the client broadly confident about the requirement, in terms of chair quantities and table sizes, much of the work was essentially a re-ordering exercise.
In our experience, it is occasionally sensible to partially under-estimate table numbers for venues. As such GSK returned for an additional four tables around one month after our initial delivery.
Kirkhouse has provided GSK Sports & Social Club with a flexible furniture solution that should perform well for the following 20+ years, at which time we hope that the venue is continuing to thrive.
In total, Kirkhouse supplied 180 Coronet chairs, 36 mixed folding tables (round & rectangular) and 24 table tops only.
Testimonial
"The service we received from Kirkhouse Furniture was excellent. We told them what our requirements were for the new furniture, they suggested products to us that would be fit for purpose and also produced drawings which helped us see how many round and oblong tables we could fit on our floor at any given time. This certainly made life a lot easier for us. We found they had a vast range of products on offer and a great choice of colours. They were more than happy to provide us with swatches of material so we could ensure that the colours we selected went with the rest of the colour scheme. Nothing we asked for was too much trouble or an inconvenience.
Our products were delivered as per our requirements and we are extremely happy with the products we received. The quality of the products is excellent and we definitely received value for money.
If we require any furniture in the future, I will certainly make Kirkhouse Furniture my first port of call and would have no hesitation recommending them to other businesses." - Lesley Banner, GSK Sports & Social Club
